Last weekend, two young entrepreneurs from Lithuania – Danielius Visockas and Laurynas Gailius were participating in the biggest hackathon of Scandinavian region – “Junction”. Over one hundred teams were competing in a nine different categories. Lithuanians were working on a improving cities track, which was hosted by Uber.

Laurynas, one of the winning team members shared his experience from “Junction" with Startup Lithuania. “We came to the hackathon without knowing what we are going to build. On the first day our team worked on the idea related to food delivery service that we later ditched. During the last day of the event Uber team aproached us and offered to use their API. We came up with the idea to build a solution for busy parents, who have to take their children back and forth from home to school and after class activities. Uber Kids app is simple enough to be used by kids, without need of parents interaction. Destinations for the rides are preset by parents, so the child only need to select where he wants to go. Meanwhile, parent gets notified about their journey”.

Team has successfully built a working prototype and has been chosen as Uber's category winners. Now they have an exceptional chance to compete on Slush stage this Thursday, November 12th and win the main prize of 20 000.
