Hacker Games’ Winners Announced

Smart house for pets, ping pong with tower defence and RPG elements, a tool to import and promote partner products for fashion bloggers or an app to report traffic violators were among the winners of Hacker Games: Vilnius hackathon that Startup Lithuania organized together with VGTU LinkMenų Fabrikas this weekend.

More than 180 creative souls arrived to the event on a first and truly hot summer weekend. A total of 29 projects survived until the finals – 14 games, 10 applications and 5 pieces of hardware were pitched.

The winners:

  • GOAT. An iPhone app that allows to report traffic violators easily. Users can take pictures of traffic violations and report it to the police. Now it takes around 20 minutes to report poor drivers, and the author of GOAT app promises to shorten this to just a couple of clicks. It won €500 in cash from Startup Highway.

  • Ifityou. It’s a tool to browse through affiliate partner products and easily import them into a fashion blog so the blogger can monetize on its audience. It allows bloggers to create sets of apparel by searching through partner databases and dragging&dropping the items into a whiteboard. All members of this team were awarded with PEBBLE smartwatches from Adform.

  • Gadix. A 2D two-player ping pong game with tower defence and RPG elements. A shooter with experience points and money that buys weapons. Gadix won €1000 for any industry event trip from Game Insight.

  • Chaos factory. A chaotic 3D factory simulator where you need to make burger patties from kittens. This team won a 12 month subscription to Unity Pro from Unity.

  • Smart house. It’s a smart house for pets with packed with sensors that allow to feed and to monitor and to take care of small pets remotely. They won an Electronics lab kit + a maker membership for a month from Green Garage.

  • Finally, a special prize – Gear VR from Aresi Labs – went to Consuma, a multiplayer 3D-VR eating simulator for mobile/desktop.

Hacker Games: Vilnius was the second hackathon in the series organized by Startup Lithuania this year. We had our first event in March in Kaunas, while the next games will take place on 23-25 of September in Klaipėda! Then, Hacker Games will be back to Vilnius in late November/early December.
