Trustpilot Invites Hackers to Fight Against Fake News
2018
Feb 26

This year Trustpilot is joining the annual Hacker Games for a special cause. The online review community is hoping to raise awareness on fake news and for that reason invites participants of Hacker Games: Kaunas, starting already this Friday, to create innovative solutions and win 1000 EUR.

According to Olegas Murasko VP of Technology at Trustpilot, “Fake news and false information is a global concern. Globally 7 in 10 respondents among the general population worry about fake news or false information being used as a weapon, and 59 percent say that it is getting harder to tell if a piece of news is real.”

“For the first time”, continues Mr, Olegas,  “Media is the least trusted institution globally which is primarily due to a significant drop in trust in platforms, notably search engines and social media. We would like you to help us unleash the power of trust in the Internet by applying emerging technologies (e.g. Blockchain-based verification, AI-based fraudulent behaviour patterns, etc.) to solve the following problems:

  1. Ensuring traceability of online customer reviews with Blockchain
  2. Using Facebook Messenger-based chatbots for real-time reaction to negative online reviews
  3. Finding fraudulent behavioral patterns (e.g. creating fake online reviews)
  4. Augmented Reality-based showing trust score on retail store-fronts
  5. Detecting “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” between online reviews.”

If you think you can find solutions to one of these problems for a chance to win 1000 EUR – go ahead and register at www.hackergames.lt We can’t wait to see what you have to deliver!
