Lithuanian defense technology startup Luna Robotics has raised €1.08 million from Coinvest Capital, Plug & Play EMEA Ventures GmbH, and international business angels. A participant in the Startup Lithuania Accelerator powered by Plug and Play and winner of the Startup Fair 2025 Pitch Battle, Luna Robotics is building the next generation of tactical drone vision systems designed to operate flawlessly both day and night.
Turning Night into Day
Founded by Elvinas Kukys and Ramūnas Čerškevičius, the company develops LunaCam – Lithuania’s first domestically created FPV drone camera equipped with true 24/7 visibility technology. Designed and manufactured entirely in Lithuania using non-Chinese components, LunaCam provides high-quality imaging day and night and has already been battle-tested in Ukraine, helping frontline units carry out missions more safely and efficiently.
“Our product could only be tested at night — meaning many sleepless nights,” recalls CEO Elvinas Kukys.
From Military Experience to Technological Breakthrough
Elvinas, a former reconnaissance unit leader with a Master’s in Business Law, combines his field experience with business acumen, while co-founder Ramūnas Čerškevičius, with over fifteen years in software engineering and drone production, drives the company’s technical development. Both are active members of the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union, a voluntary defense organization uniting citizens committed to national security.
Growing Through the Accelerator
Participation in the Startup Lithuania Accelerator powered by Plug and Play marked a key turning point for Luna Robotics. The program, powered by Plug and Play, offered access to global expertise, mentorship, and international networks that helped the team refine their U.S. market entry strategy and connect with key industry partners.
“The accelerator opened doors we could not have reached alone — from U.S. defense partners to investors who believe in European security innovation,” says Kukys. “The mentorship and network we gained accelerated our go-to-market strategy tremendously.”
Povilas Žinys, Director of Plug and Play Lithuania, adds:
“Luna Robotics showcases the strength of Lithuania’s defense innovation on the world stage. With Plug and Play’s global network, we’re proud to help scale their night-vision technology across allied countries.”
Looking Ahead
With the new investment, Luna Robotics plans to strengthen its international position and expand across the EU and U.S. markets. The company will increase production capacity, enhance automation, and continue developing its night-vision imaging systems for defense and dual-use applications.
“We’re creating what we once dreamed of during our service — tools that help perform missions more safely, accurately, and efficiently,” says Kukys. “
A Win for Lithuania’s Innovation Ecosystem
Karolina Urbonaitė, Head of Startup Lithuania at Innovation Agency Lithuania, highlights the wider significance of Luna Robotics’ journey:
“Luna Robotics is an inspiring example of how Lithuania’s startups turn deep technical expertise and patriotism into global solutions. Their success reflects a maturing ecosystem where innovation serves not only business but national security and strategic independence.”
Colonel Linas Idzelis, Commander of the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union, also emphasized the company’s role in strengthening Lithuania’s defense innovation:
“The Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union can be proud that our members are achieving strong results and contributing to the defense industry by establishing high-tech companies. We thank everyone who supports our activities and invests in young teams — and we do not intend to stop.”
