SUAVE – Stimulating SMEs in new Urban Agriculture Value Chain

SUAVE project financial support targets SMEs that directly or indirectly link to urban agriculture in Europe (providing services, products, raw materials and technologies to the European urban farming food system).

Who can apply for funding: SMEs according to the EU definition and recommendation 2003/361 (employing less than 250 people; with an annual turnover of up to EUR 50 million or a balance sheet total of no more than EUR 43 million) registered in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Ukraine. SMEs must provide services, products, raw materials and technologies to the European urban farming food system.

Funded activities: innovation (min. TRL 4), business trips, diagnostics, training, search for foreign partners (USA, Canada, Mexico).
Financing is provided in lump sums which requires minimal administrative effort – no need to provide detailed information on the spendings.

Maximum amount of funding per SME: up to 60 000 EUR (the estimated total funding is EUR 1,05 million).
Funded activities under the first call:
– Innovation Lump Sum (EUR 20 000 x 25 SMEs)
– Travel Lump Sum (EUR 1 000 x 25 SMEs)
– Diagnosis Lump Sum (EUR 5 000 x 30 SMEs)

2 calls are scheduled to take place as follows: Call 1 (March 28 – May 30, 2023); Call 2 (Q4 2023 – Q1 2024)
