Digital Innovation Contest – Skaitmeninis Knygnešys’24
Apr 24 - Jun 02

The aim of the “Skaitmeninis Knygnešys” competition is to discover original, innovative, progressive, and significant digital content solutions created in Lithuania, which are entitled to be called Lithuania’s “digital book carriers” and are nominated to represent Lithuania in the United Nations-supported competition “World Summit Awards” (WSA).

Various digital content solutions participate in the competition: websites, mobile applications, applications for wearable devices (e.g., smartwatches), SMS-based solutions, digital games for various gaming consoles, and so on.
In the “Skaitmeninis Knygnešys” competition, creators of Lithuanian digital solutions compete in eight categories corresponding to the categories of the global WSA competition:
Government & Citizen Engagement;
Health & Well-being;
Learning & Education;
Environment & Green Energy;
Culture & Heritage;
Productivity & Urbanization;
Business & Commerce;
Inclusion & Empowerment.
The solutions from Lithuania that win in each category—one solution per category—become Lithuania’s “skaitmeniniais knygnešiais” are awarded symbolic prizes confirming this status, and gain the right to use the “WSA Winner Lithuania” logo in their solution.

They will represent Lithuania at the global “World Summit Awards 2024” competition, aimed at discovering and promoting meaningful digital innovations that benefit society and create change. In the event of winning this competition, the creators of the solutions will be included in the global WSA winners’ network and invited to participate in the World WSA Congress in spring 2025 in India—an event dedicated to the best creators of meaningful digital innovations worldwide. Here, the winners will have the opportunity to present their solutions to the Global Jury, participate in training sessions, experience-sharing workshops, and establish new connections with creators and experts from around the world.
During the “Skaitmeninis Knygnešys” competition, the “Best Solution for Lithuania” is also awarded—a solution that is particularly important and significant in the Lithuanian context—and the “Startup of the Year”—a solution in which the competition commission sees the highest growth potential and whose creators will be awarded a special €3000 cash prize.
