Lithuanian Business Incubation Centre of CERN Technologies (Incubator) supports development and application of innovative ideas based on technologies and expertise developed at European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). The support granted for start-ups comprise preferential rate licensing of CERN intellectual property, free 40 hours of CERN expert consultation (subject to expert availability), financial grant, consultations from experts at Lithuanian Innovation Centre, Sunrise Valley and Kaunas Science and Technology Parks.
The Incubator was established in Lithuanian following the granting Lithuania the status of CERN’s Associated Member State in 2018. The world’s largest nuclear and particle physics laboratory CERN, located in Switzerland, seek to answer fundamental questions about the structure of our universe. In this quest, novel technologies and solutions are developed that can be used outside the field of high energy physics. The business incubation center aims to assist start-ups, spin-offs, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to implement innovative technologies and expertise developed at CERN into disruptive products or services.
Technological expertise from CERN comprise particle accelerators, particle beam instrumentation and control, refrigeration and ventilation, cryogenics, detectors and sensors, ultra-pure vacuum, control and simulation of industrial systems, information and communication technologies, magnets, mechanics, materials and electrical engineering, metrology, optoelectronics and microelectronics, radiation safety and monitoring, radio frequency technologies, superconductivity, robotics, data and digital sciences, particle tracking and calorimetry.
Fields of interest: aerospace, medical and biomedical, industry 4.0, energy, safety, environment, cultural heritage, security, IoT, robotics, hardware, emerging technologies, technology-based companies.
Waiting for startups with: idea, team, prototype, first incomes.
Benefits for startups: expert consultation, grant, mentoring, community, networking, working space.
