Impressed by the ideas of Lithuanian startups, foreign investors are arriving in Lithuania next week to look for new talents. This year LOGIN Startup Fair, an event organised by Enterprise Lithuania and Startup Lithuania will attract the representatives of 24 venture capital funds and 7 business accelerators. The event will also be attended by such investors as Israel’s Pitango Venture Capital and Europe’s largest venture capital fund Balderton Capital. Investors will have an opportunity to choose from as many as 54 startup teams from Lithuania, Latvia and Belarus.

“Our work of presenting foreign investors with innovative ideas of Lithuanians has brought results.  After attending last year’s LOGIN Startup Fair, which was held for the first time, representatives of one of the world’s largest venture capital funds sent a message to big investors that Lithuania could be an attractive investment option. The visits of the participants of the project Startup Lithuania Roadshow to Tel Aviv, Berlin, London and Stockholm in autumn last year reinforced the image of Lithuania as a country having huge potential for investment,” said Mantas Nocius, managing director of Enterprise Lithuania.

Member of the board of the Startup Lithuania community and partner of the Business Angels Fund I Arvydas Strumskis claims that LOGIN Startup Fair gives Lithuanian startups an opportunity to become successful and make success a habit.

“There are local venture capital funds and business accelerators in Lithuania. When the representatives of 24 world famous venture capital funds and 7 business accelerators meet with  54 startups, chances are that some of them will agree on further cooperation,” reckoned  Strumskis.

Some investors who are going to attend LOGIN Startup Fair have already started cooperating with Lithuanian teams. For example, the VC fund Wellington Partners has invested USD 13.7 million in the startup, founded by Lithuanians, YPlan, a last-minute event planning app launched in New York, San Francisco and London.

“I see lots of potential in Lithuanian startups – Lithuanians as many Baltics and Eastern Europeans have solid technical education that serves their purpose well. They are hungry founders looking to leave a footprint. They are resourceful founders with entrepreneurship in their DNA,” pointed out Christian Thaler-Wolski, Venture partner of Wellington Partners.

The event also will be attended by the VC fund Intel Capital. Intel Capital has recently invested in Lithuania startup CGTrader, a 3D model marketplace. Their cooperation started at last year’s LOGIN Startup Fair. The Finnish startups accelerator Startup Sauna, where a couple of Lithuanian startups partcipated, is also going to look for new talents at the fair.

LOGIN Startup Fair is part of LOGIN tech conference. Last year the fair was attended by the representatives of 12 venture capital funds. 22 startups had their stands in the Fair area, 20 startups participated in the Pitch Challenge. This year will see a much higher number of foreign guests and startups. 40 selected startups will present their products at stands. 30 startups will compete among themselves at the Pitch Challenge. The winners will share a prize fund of EUR 4 500. The top winner will also get a ticket to participate in Startup Lithuania Roadshow 2014 to be hosted by Enterprise Lithuania this autumn.

LOGIN Startup Fair will be held alongside LOGIN conference at the Litexpo conference centre on April 10-11.
