Upgrading Money to the Digital Age: Introducing Digital Euro
Nov 30, 16:00, 17:00

Digitalisation has spread to every corner of our lives and transformed how we pay. While the entire world is observing significant changes in the field of currencies, involving discussions about the new type of money (CBDC) and practical experiments (like the first digital collector coin LBCOIN and the LBChain blockchain sandbox created by the Bank of Lithuania), the European Central Bank introduced its Report on a Digital Euro. In this new era, a digital euro would guarantee that citizens in the euro area can maintain free access to a simple, universally accepted, safe and trusted means of payment.
A digital euro would be an electronic form of central bank money accessible to all citizens and firms – like banknotes but in a digital form – allowing them to make their daily payments in a fast, easy, costless and secure way. A digital euro would be introduced alongside cash and would not replace it.
Let’s have a talk about digital currencies and learn more about #digitalEuro. 💶
– What would a digital euro look like and what are the advantages of it?
– What role banks, payment institutions and other commercial entities will take in providing a digital euro to end users?
– What features should a digital euro have to facilitate cross-currency payments?
– How the experience of CBDC and blockchain studies/experiments would contribute to a digital euro?
